In order to work and live in the US, you will need a work visa in order to get the authorization to do so. Failure to secure this type of working visa can subject you to fines, criminal charges, and even deportation from the United States.

A work visa ensures that a worker is documented, paying taxes, and is protected by the labor laws which protect all workers in the United States.

There are many types of visas available for workers who wish to live and work in the US, temporary visa as well as the Green Card.

The Green Card offers you permanent residency, so that you can live and work in the United States for as long as you wish. The H-1B work visa is available for temporary work in specialty occupations. If you do not qualify for another type of working visa, you may also apply for the H-3 Trainee Visa, which allows you to enter the US for work training. Another popular option is the H2-B Work Visa for Skilled and Unskilled Workers.

The US Green Card, also known as the permanent resident card, gives the holder permanent residence in the United States. As a Green Card holder, you can legally live and work in the United States. You can also travel in and out of the country more freely.

As Green Card holder, you as an applicant must belong to one of the immigrant categories outlined in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). It is common to obtain a Green Card by marriage, employment, investment, family, refugee status, or through some other pre-established means.

Applicants must be admissible into the United States in order to qualify for a US Green Card. This means that there must be no security, health, or criminal issues which would make you as an applicant ineligible to enter the US.

Visas are also issued for a specific period of time - once a visa expires, you no longer have the legal right to travel to or remain in the U.S.

There are two types of U.S. visas, nonimmigrant and immigrant. What is the difference between the two? Mostly, the length of time they allow you to stay in the U.S.

Nonimmigrant Visas are issued for temporary stay in the U.S. They are designated for people who live outside the U.S. but who wish to visit the country for different reasons like tourism, business, studying or working (periods between three months and two years).

Immigrant Visas are issued for permanent stay in the U.S. An immigrant visa allows you to travel to the U.S. and once you enter, to legally establish your residence. This means you will officially and permanently become a U.S. permanent resident and receive a lawful permanent
